This foam roller is about as firm as foam can be, which is what I expected and wanted. It's not fair for a reviewer to say it's too firm. The title and description clearly say "Extra Firm". Don't buy it and expect it to be soft. It's also quite smooth, which means it should repel liquids well.

Rolling on it will NOT cause it to wear out. You'll have to abuse it to wear it out. It's like the black 24" GoFit foam roller from Big 5 Sporting Goods, except this one is 36". I returned that one and am keeping this one.

The basic foam rollers at my gym were just not cutting it. I ordered The Grid Foam Roller for home use after a recommendation and it is hands down the best roller I have used. It's versatile: core training, stretching or massaging.

I am a physical therapist and I first tried this product at a professional conference. My husband is a personal trainer and had used the traditional foam roller with client and himself for years until we got this one.
I like it because:

-- It is firmer than a basic white foam roller, allowing you to use more pressure and work out deep knots or tension better.
(Note: you can easily change the angle at which you use it to keep pressure light.)
-- It holds its shape. The basic foam rollers will dent in and break down with use, this product will retain its shape and thus will not need to be replaced.

Product caused me to get bruising on my skin from using the roller. Would NOT recommend! It is very rough and caused excessive pain during rolling then residual bruising. Was in shock when I saw my legs the next day.
